CinemaSalem is more than a film-lover’s movie theater; it’s also a café, an art gallery, an art house, a live music venue, and a home to one of America’s largest all-documentary film festivals. CinemaSalem’s commitment to the community goes beyond being an artful and friendly gathering place. $0.25 from each movie admission is donated to fund CinemaSalem Grants of up to $1000 per month, awarded to innovative and effective nonprofit organizations which are enriching the cultural and economic standard of living in our community.

CinemaSalem was recently in danger of closing unless it could convert to a new digital projector required by Hollywood Studios. A Kickstarter program was started in December 2012 to raise money for the new device. It was a very successful campaign and SalemCinema plans to use the extra funds generated to spruce up the interior.
